“Now four men who were lepers were at the entrance of the city's gate; and they said to one another, Why do we sit here until we die? If we say, We will enter the city–then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we sit still here, we die also. So now come, let us go over to the army of the Syrians. If they spare us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die. So they arose in the twilight and went to the Syrian camp. But when they came to the edge of the camp, no man was there.”
- 2 Kings 7:3-5 AMPC
What’s holding you back? For the four lepers in in 2 Kings 7:3-5 it was the fear of the unknown, danger and death. But on the other hand if they did nothing about their situation the stark reality was that stagnation, starvation and death awaited to kill them. Both options weren’t pleasant at all. However, there was another option that they could place their trust on and it was the option of faith. And their faith led them to confront the worst fears that had held them captive in the cycle of pain and misery. It is to be noted that when they took the step of faith eventually all of a sudden what they feared most was NON EXISTENT!
Just like the lepers their may be certain fears that you probably might be dealing with today that has held you back from commitment in your relationship, from giving your best, from taking your spiritual life to another level, from serving in Church or volunteering in a cause, or stepping out in faith to start a business or ministry. Is it fear that you’re not good enough? fear of embarrassing yourself? Fear that you will fail? or fear of financial limitations? God has promised to never leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5). He promised to help you (Isa. 41:10). He promised to be with you in the waters, river or fire (Isa. 43:2). And to show you His goodness and mercy (Ps. 23:6). Now, He is saying to you like He said to Peter,
“Do not yield to your fear, Simon Peter (you can add your name). From now on, you will catch men for salvation!” - Luke 5:10 (TPT)
It is normal to feel fear. But it is never okay to yield to your fears. So keep taking one step of faith at a time and it will amaze you of the great things God will do in your life!
